Colombia has become one of the most
interesting country's to travel with a low budget. I had the opportunity
to go there last summer with some of my closest friends and it was
amazing, if I have to be honest almost everything was amazing except the first
day, that one was horrible!
Colombia is an amazing country, the
people is very friendly like in Mexico, the local food is delicious and I
completely recommend the Bandeja paisa before trying anything else. The
Colombian people eat a lot of banana, they have it in almost all the main
plates, I like it!. They have a good weather it could get very warm but it also
can get really cloudy and cold too, it really depends on the season of your
travel.
Even do I'm young I had been in
different museums around the world such as the Louvre in Paris to the MoMa in
New York or National museum of China in Beijing but the Fernando Botero Museum
in Bogota is so beautiful, I think this museum has a special magic in each
painting, Botero said "the envy is the tribute that mediocrity makes
talent". Cartagena de Indias is an other good option to travel inside
Colombia because it's famous for his Ciudad amurallada place and if you love
the beach and the sun you should go one day!
As soon as we arrived to the Dorado airport
in Bogota we went to the hotel to get ready and we head up to the night club
called Andres carne de res! I know the name is funny! but is a nice and famous
place, the party went on until 6 a.m. and here begins the horrible experience I
was telling you about! I don't remember anything for obvious reasons I guess
the alcohol was part of that reason but when I left the night club i lost my
friends I don't know how it happened or why but i did it! Somehow I decided to
go to the hotel but with a little of fear because I was in another country,
lost, drunk and afraid so my plan was to call an Uber but for my bad luck I
didn't have battery in my phone, so I started walking around and it end up in a
two hours walk until I found the hotel, but during those hours of walking I felt a person behind me and
everything happened so fast I didn’t even realized my reaction, the man ask me
if I had money with me and he show me a knife, obviously that was an assault
and I didn't have any other option but to give him my wallet with all my credit
cards and money! I had a bunch of feelings together like fear, anger, sadness
and impotency, because I couldn't do anything in that moment, and I
didn't know what to do if I should call a police man or fighting with the guy
or just run, but as I told you i took the unexpected easy way out.
If we want to make this story even
worst my friend Luis fernando told me about the insecurity in Colombia one day
before and what to do in a situation but I didn't give to much important about that
and I didn’t pay attention to him, so I said to myself that the next time i
promise to be more careful and never leave alone.
I decided to write my experience
because I wanted to show you all how dangerous can become a situation that seem
pretty normal, this things happen around the world and not only in Mexico, if
you have a trip coming up don't forget this experience, take care and never
ever loose your friends.
If
you were in a "difficult" situation like this how would you react?

In your situation I would give him the money but instead of walking by my own I would tell someone in the club my situation maybe they would help you with a taxi or charging your phone
ResponderEliminarI´ve been in too many places but never in southamerica I´ve heard that the places are pretty but the insecurity is hard in your situation I would ask someone who work there in the bar to help me calling a taxi or I would wait until morning
ResponderEliminarIn my opinion I agree with your opinion about the insecurity is not just in Mexico. I recommend to everybody make sure you're keeping an eye out and you're not alone. Don't think of going at night alone, when you are visiting some touristic place that you dont even know if is dangerous or not.
ResponderEliminarI´ll try to get some help
ResponderEliminarI think that maybe you don't made the best decision. In your place I should ask for help in the bar in order to go to the hotel in a safe way and without any risk. I think that insecurity is something horrible everywhere, so you have to take precautions.
ResponderEliminarthats ir a really good sotroy the problem of insecurity is everywhere and is more for the turist because there are a lot of scams and turist are robbed so be carefull and search the place or city before going and take care.
ResponderEliminarIn my opinion I think that you are wright when say that the problem of insecurity is everywhere, and more if you are a drunk tourist, so you have to pay attention, and don't miss your friends, and maybe the next time will be better.
ResponderEliminarAs you say any country is dangerous, you should be careful. In my case I keep extra money if I have a problem, you should do it!
ResponderEliminarI think I would have put bad scare, of being alone in another country and that I was being assaulted, I think it's important to take every precaciones when traveling alone, because they know the country well or as people think it is better not walk alone through the streets
ResponderEliminarMaybe, if I was in your situation, I called for a taxi, or had asked for a charger to my phone and call to my friends before to left the club. But yes, in that moment you passed, I did the same, give him all my money. As you said, the insegurity is not only in Mexico, so I recommend not be alone at an unknown place.
ResponderEliminarI totally agree with you about the insecurity isn't only in Mexico. I think today we shouldn't trust nowhere will have a good security, always you have to be careful.
ResponderEliminarWe must follow recommendations!
Wow, I have never experienced something like that but I think you did the best, it is better to lose you wallet and money than you life.
ResponderEliminarI agree with you, the insecurity exists in all the world so is an important theme. There was really bad the problem that you had in Colombia but consider that the problem didn't do bigger
ResponderEliminarI have never been in this situation but I agree with you the insecurity exist in every part of the world! You do the best
ResponderEliminarI think in a difficult like yours situation, it is best to remain calm and not desesperarce and try to somehow get help, but never quedarce alone in a place you do not know, that good do not step over and you're ok.
ResponderEliminarI read your blog. I think that to travel to other country is an amaizing experience but like can happen good things can pass bad. I never have been in a same situation but if a were be you I never had gone alone to the street.
